Car flips on side in high-speed chase – driver charged
Police chase ends in dramatic crash
Officers on patrol in Wollaton Vale, Nottingham, spotted a suspicious car at around 9.45pm on Saturday, 11 March. Believing the driver was uninsured, they signalled for the vehicle to stop. The driver ignored the flashing blue lights and sped off instead.
A chase ensued, with the car racing through the streets before crashing into another vehicle on Moorbridge Lane, Stapleford. The car then smashed into a bollard and flipped onto its side.
No serious injuries, but chaos on the roads
Miraculously, nobody suffered serious injuries in the crash. But the incident rattled the local community and highlighted the dangers of reckless driving.
Driver faces multiple charges
21-year-old Mitchell Henderson, from Walnut Close, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, was arrested at the scene. He is set to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 13 March, facing charges including:
- Dangerous driving
- Failing to stop
- Driving while disqualified
- Driving without insurance
- Failing to provide a specimen for analysis
Police vow to crack down on dangerous drivers
PC James Cantrill of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident but, as with all dangerous driving, the potential consequences could have been incredibly serious.
Nottinghamshire Police takes incidents of this nature very seriously and will always look to take action against offenders. I am pleased a suspect has now been charged and placed before the courts as a result of our investigation.”
