Paedophile Caught with 100+ Sick Images Walks Free with Suspended Sentence
Chapman Busted with Horrific Photos
Neil Chapman, 34, from Bromley, was caught red-handed in August 2021 with over 100 vile images during a police raid on his home in Reigate Road.
Police revealed he even posted one gruesome snap to an online forum. When grilled about it, Chapman tried to dodge responsibility, claiming, “It rings a bell, but it could have been a medical image.”
Repeat Offender Escapes Jail… Again
Chapman is no stranger to the law. Back in 2016, he was caught with indecent images of children under similar circumstances. Croydon Crown Court gave him a suspended sentence then too — meaning he never served time.
He pleaded guilty for the latest offences at Woolwich Crown Court on March 22.
Judge Suspends Prison Sentence, Cites Mental Health
Defence lawyer Honor Fitzgerald told the court Chapman’s behaviour was linked to mental health struggles after losing two family members, calling this episode a “setback” to his otherwise steady rehabilitation.
Judge Sarah Whitehouse handed down a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Chapman will walk free — for now — unless he offends again.
“The reason I’m suspending the sentence again is that in prison you will not get the level of help you need, and the public deserves you to get that help to keep them safe,” the judge said.
She also reminded Chapman that people like him cause enormous pain to victims of child sexual abuse every single day.
