Race Against Time: Lifeboats Launch in Search for Missing Person Near Portsmouth Pier

The Bembridge RNLI’s All-Weather Lifeboat (ALB) RNLB Alfred Albert Williams sprang into action at 1.20 pm on Thursday, March 23. Ordered by the UK Solent Coastguard, the lifeboat teamed up with local Coastguard units, Police, and RNLI Portsmouth’s Atlantic 85 RNLB Norma T to search for a missing person last seen near Portsmouth Southsea Pier.

Quick Search Ends in Relief

On arrival, all lifeboats scoured the surrounding shorelines in a swift coordinated effort. Thankfully, the missing individual was soon found safe in the company of Police officers. With the person accounted for, all lifesaving crews stood down and headed back to base.

Weather Shifts After Successful Mission

Search conditions stayed fine, with good visibility throughout. However, the weather turned nasty on return – bringing cold temperatures and rain. The Alfred Albert Williams and its crew were safely docked and secured by 3.30 pm.
