Shuyi Xu Arrives Alone at Heathrow

Shuyi Xu, a Chinese national, landed solo at Heathrow Airport from China on Friday, 23 December. She is believed to have stayed in Shoreditch and Whitechapel, East London, before police first spotted her on 29 December. Concerned staff at Heathrow called the police over fears for her welfare, leading to her being taken into protective custody.

Disappears from Barnet Care Home

After coming into local authority care, Shuyi suddenly vanished on Wednesday, 4 January around 2.30pm. She left the Barnet address she had been staying at and has not been seen since.

Police Concerned but No Evidence of Harm

Officers are working closely with partner agencies and local authorities to trace Shuyi’s steps. So far, there is no sign she has suffered serious harm, but police remain very worried for her safety.

What Shuyi Was Wearing and How to Help

  • Last seen in a white jumper, black skirt, and flat white shoes.
  • Speaks Mandarin and limited English.
  • First time in the UK, little knowledge of London.

“We’re building a picture of her movements and who she might have been associating with,” said Detective Inspector Daniel Branch, North West Command Unit. “I urge Shuyi, or anyone who has seen her, to contact us immediately.”
