Massive Fire Erupts at Iconic Building
Emergency services are battling a huge blaze at the Angel Inn hotel on North Street, Midhurst. West Sussex Fire and Rescue have scrambled ten fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, a water carrier, and an off-road vehicle to the scene.
Two Historic Buildings Engulfed in Flames
Flames have gutted two historic buildings, including the Angel Inn, which was sheltering Ukrainian refugees. Thankfully, all occupants have been evacuated safely.
Ukrainian Refugees Among Evacuees
One Ukrainian girl described the hotel as having 15 rooms. A witness on the scene counted around 30 people being escorted along the pavement to a local reception centre for safety.
Health Warning for Locals
Residents are urged to keep windows shut due to heavy smoke in the area. Firefighters continue to battle the blaze as investigations into the cause are underway.
