Portsmouth Water has confirmed there’s a serious issue leaving homes in Gosport and Stubbington with little to no water this morning. Low pressure and complete outages have sparked panic among residents.
Huge Water Outage Hits Hampshire Towns
The trouble started around 6 a.m. due to a faulty control valve that regulates water pressure in the area. Portsmouth Water’s response team is scrambling to fix the fault and get the taps running again.
The water woes have spread beyond Gosport and Stubbington, with complaints pouring in from Lee-on-the-Solent and Fareham as well. So many customers have flooded the Portsmouth Water website that the site is crashing under the traffic.
Portsmouth Water Scrambles to Fix Fault
The company is keeping customers in the loop via their Twitter page until their website is back online. CEO Bob Taylor issued an apology, saying:
“We responded quickly, diagnosed the problem, and are investigating ways to restore water supplies to the area in a controlled manner as soon as possible. We sincerely apologise to our local customers for the inconvenience this morning.”
