Birling Gap Coastguard Hurt in Police Operation, Lifeboat Rescue Launches
Coastguard Member Injured During Police Call-Out
A Birling Gap Coastguard team member was rushed to hospital after breaking their ankle during a police-assisted operation on Monday night. The emergency worker was hurt while responding to an incident earlier in the day, details of which remain under wraps.
Eastbourne Lifeboat Springs Into Action
At 7:35pm, the Eastbourne Inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist the injured coastguard. The Birling Gap team’s mission was abruptly halted when the injury made it impossible for the member to continue.
Swift Rescue and Medical Care
The lifeboat crew reached the casualty swiftly, administered first aid, and transported them safely back to shore. The injured coastguard worker was then taken to hospital for further treatment.
