Brutal Whitstable Attack Lands Trio Behind Bars
Alfie Scott, Lewis Jones, and Shannon Cook unleashed a savage assault in Whitstable back in 2022, leaving one man with serious stab wounds to his face and back.
Conflict Erupts in Whitstable High Street
On the night of Saturday 14 May, Shannon Cook encountered a group enjoying the evening in Whitstable town centre. Tensions flared and an argument broke out. As the group tried to walk away, Cook followed and called Lewis Jones, urging him to get to Whitstable High Street.
Violent Ambush Caught on CCTV
Soon after, Scott and Jones arrived in a Land Rover Freelander. The pair launched a brutal attack on a male member of the group, with Cook holding back a female by pulling her hair. CCTV footage captured Scott stabbing the victim from behind while Jones ruthlessly punched and kicked him.
The victim required surgery at a local hospital but was discharged after treatment.
Justice Served in Court
- Lewis Jones, 26, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
- Shannon Cook, 25, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and assault.
- Alfie Scott, 32, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and arson from a separate incident.
All pleaded not guilty but were convicted after trial.
Prison Sentences Handed Down
On 28 April 2023, Jones was jailed for eight years and six months. Cook received two years and seven months, while Scott was given 13 years plus an extended three-year licence.
Detective Constable Emma Wheeler said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack leaving lifelong physical and mental scars. I hope these prison sentences reassure victims and the public that justice has been done.”
