Blaze Breaks Out on Connaught Road: Six Fire Engines Rush to Scene
Flames Rip Through Harlesden Home
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to a fire on Connaught Road, Harlesden, yesterday (2 May). The flames damaged the roof space of a two-storey semi-detached house converted into flats. Fire didn’t stop there — a part of the neighbouring house’s roof also caught fire.
Cause: Electrical Fault and No Smoke Alarms
Fire investigators believe the blaze was sparked accidentally by an electrical fault. Shockingly, the property had no working smoke alarms. Thankfully, there were no injuries.
Fire Brigade Issues Stark Warning
“This incident is a timely reminder about the importance of having smoke alarms in your home. Not having working smoke alarms leaves you and your loved ones at risk,” said a London Fire Brigade spokesperson.
“Homes need multiple smoke alarms or you won’t be properly covered. As a minimum, have smoke alarms on every floor — in hallways and rooms you use most. Plus, a heat alarm in the bathroom and kitchen.”
The Brigade was called at 6.09pm and had the fire under control by 6.58pm. Fire crews from Park Royal, Willesden, North Kensington, and Wembley stations tackled the blaze.
