£910,000 Haul in East Midlands Theft Spree – Six Arrested

Over two years, thieves ransacked farms and commercial sites across the East Midlands, making off with plant machinery, pick-up trucks, vans, and power tools worth over £910,000.

Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Police Crack Down

Between April 2020 and June 2022, properties in Nottinghamshire’s Rushcliffe and Gedling districts were hit hard. Nottinghamshire Police teamed up with Lincolnshire Police to launch a major investigation to track down the crooks behind the raids.

Yesterday morning (3 May), a co-ordinated police operation saw warrants executed simultaneously at six properties in Newark, Screveton, East Bridgford (Nottinghamshire), and Dunham on Trent (Lincolnshire).

Six Suspects Nabbed and Charged

Officers arrested six men linked to 65 offences. All face charges for conspiracy to commit theft and burglary. The accused are:

  • Dominic Alderton, 35, Devon Road, Newark
  • Aaron Booth, 24, Occupation Lane, East Bridgford
  • Gary Self, 56, Coneygrey Spinney, Newark
  • Stefan Ward, 31, Vessey Close, Newark
  • Colin Warriner, 35, Dunham Road, Newton on Trent
  • John Watson, 35, Flintham Lane, Screveton

They are set to appear before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today (4 May).

Detective Warns Against Rural Crime – Calls for Public Help

“This extensive investigation has involved close collaboration between multiple police forces, with a dedicated team focusing solely on rural crime,” said Detective Sergeant Rich Kinsey of Nottinghamshire Police.

“We are pleased to have charged six suspects. The theft of vehicles and agricultural machinery can devastate local businesses and livelihoods.

“This crime spree saw nearly a million pounds worth of equipment stolen across the region over two years.

“We take rural crime extremely seriously, carrying out regular patrols and targeted operations to crack down on offenders.
