Police Response At Great North Run After Van Driven Onto Course

An incident during the Great North Run on Sunday morning prompted a swift police response when a white van, bearing graffiti on its back and side, was reportedly driven onto a roundabout.

This concerning event occurred as approximately 60,000 runners were participating in the iconic half-marathon race, which spans 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields.

Police officers quickly descended upon the scene, with multiple vehicles and personnel present at The Nook (Prince Edward Road) in South Shields.

To address the situation, authorities ensured the van was removed from the course. It has been reported that the graffiti on the vehicle was concealed before its removal.
