Deadly Airstrikes Pound Kupiansk as Russian Assaults Ramp Up

Tragedy hit the frontline town of Kupiansk in northeast Ukraine on Tuesday when Russian airstrikes killed six people. The latest assault underscores the relentless pressure Russia continues to exert on this hard-fought region.

Kupiansk Hit Hard: Six Dead in Deadly Bombing

Regional governor Oleg Synegubov confirmed the grim death toll on social media: “The number of dead has increased to six people. Four men and two women were killed in Kupiansk due to an enemy attack from a guided aerial bomb.” Emergency teams rushed to the blast site as the town reels from the strike.

Kharkiv and Beyond: Ukraine Under Siege

  • The attack took place in the Kharkiv region, close to the Russian border.
  • This bombing added to a horror day in Ukraine, pushing total casualties to nine across the country.
  • Only hours earlier, a drone swarm targeted Lviv warehouses, igniting fires and killing one.
  • In Kherson’s south, a trolleybus strike claimed a policeman’s life and wounded two others.

Lviv Drone Assault Sparks Fire, Death and Devastation

Lviv governor Maksym Kozytsky reported a Russian drone attack overnight near Poland’s border. Despite Ukrainian forces shooting down seven of 30 drones, warehouses were hit and burned. A 32-year-old man was found dead among the ruins, while two others were wounded, including a 26-year-old hospitalised and a 68-year-old treated on site.

Tragically, a warehouse run by NGO Caritas-Spes storing 300 tonnes of emergency aid was destroyed. The United Nations slammed the strike: “Attacks on humanitarian targets have intensified this year, worsening the plight of civilians caught in conflict,” said OCHA Ukraine coordinator Denise Brown.

Ukraine’s Defences Fighting Back

The Ukrainian army showcased its resilience, shooting down 27 of the 30 Iranian-made Shahed drones launched by Russia during the raid. But with attacks escalating, the war in Ukraine rages on relentlessly.
