Ex-Teacher and Child Abductor Sacked from Kent Bakery
A disgraced former teacher turned baker has been kicked out of his Kent job after his lurid past was exposed. Jeremy Forrest, notorious for fleeing the UK with a 15-year-old girl in 2012, lost his role at Gilda Bakery in Bishopsbourne when shocked bosses discovered his true identity.

Using the surname Buonocore, Forrest had landed a job at the artisan bakery in Canterbury last year, hiding his controversial background. But national media exposure blew the lid off his assumed name and dark history.
“We are aware of the news recently published in the press regarding one of our staff members,” said Jon Warren, owner of Gilda Bakery. “Since learning of the sensitive nature of this employee’s history, it was mutually agreed that it was in the best interest of Gilda that his employment was terminated with immediate effect. This has come as a shock to the whole Gilda family.”
Bakery Bio Whitewashes Scandal
The bakery had scrubbed any mention of Forrest’s infamous past from its website. His bio, now removed, portrayed him as a devoted 5th generation baker with a passion for sourdough, music, and family traditions, glossing over his former career and criminal convictions.

Crime and Consequences
Forrest made international headlines after abducting a 15-year-old student and triggering a cross-Channel manhunt in 2012. The search ended when CCTV caught them boarding a ferry to Calais. He was eventually spotted by a barman in Bordeaux, where he had applied for work.
Convicted of child abduction and five counts of sexual activity with a child, Forrest was jailed for five-and-a-half years at Lewes Crown Court. He now must register as a sex offender for life.
Gilda Bakery has declined further comment on the explosive revelations.
