American Tourist Throws Newborn from Paris Hotel Window
An 18-year-old American tourist has shocked Paris after allegedly tossing her newborn baby out of a second-floor window of an Ibis Styles Hotel. The horrific incident unfolded Sunday morning on Rue des Reglises.
Tragic Birth and Disturbing Crime
The teen, travelling across Europe with friends, gave birth alone in her hotel room. Witnesses heard chilling screams before finding the critically injured infant below. Emergency crews rushed the baby to a nearby hospital, but despite frantic efforts, the newborn died from severe injuries shortly after arrival.
Suspect Hospitalised and Held in Custody
The young mother was also taken to hospital for surgery following the traumatic birth. She was arrested at the hospital and remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
“She was also taken into custody on site. The possibility of a denial of pregnancy is being considered,” said the Paris prosecutor’s office. Denial of pregnancy is a psychological condition where a woman is unaware or in denial of being pregnant.
Horror Witnesses and Ongoing Probe
A horrified bystander told reporters, “It was the most horrifying thing I’ve ever witnessed. No one could believe what was happening.” Hotel staff are fully cooperating with police but have yet to issue an official statement.
Authorities are piecing together how the young woman was unaware of her pregnancy or whether she had access to medical or psychological support during her travels. The American embassy in Paris has been notified and is providing consular assistance.
This tragic case has sparked urgent discussions on mental health support, especially for young travellers facing crises far from home.
