West Sussex Launches Cutting-Edge Fire Station: Platinum House
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service has unveiled Platinum House, their brand-new Training Centre and Fire Station in Horsham. This ultra-modern facility is a game changer for the county’s fire services.
Royal Tribute and High-Tech Hub
The grand opening was led by Lady Emma Barnard, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex. Funded by West Sussex County Council, Platinum House pays homage to Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. It replaces the old fire station on Hurst Road, which served the community since 1968.
Top Brass Praise New Era
Pete Bradbury, Chairman of the County Council, said: “This is a momentous occasion for West Sussex. Platinum House represents more than just bricks and mortar; it’s our vision for the future of fire safety.”
Council Leader Paul Marshall added: “I suspect firefighters from the past would be amazed by Platinum House — from safety advances to the green energy powering the building. It’s a remarkable facility dedicated to their memory and the future.”
Fire Chief Highlights Legacy and Future
Chief Fire Officer Sabrina Cohen-Hatton expressed gratitude to the council for supporting their vision. She said: “In the year of King Charles III’s coronation, we honour Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by naming Platinum House after her. This centre ensures our firefighters are ready to protect the community for decades to come.”
