A Worthing shop has been temporarily closed due to recurrent disturbances

The combined establishment of Eight Till Late and Pie & Mash on Chapel Road is mandated to shut down for three months after numerous instances of anti-social behaviour were reported.

The closure was achieved through the collaborative efforts of the Neighbourhood Licensing Team, Adur and Worthing Councils, and West Sussex County Council Trading Standards. This action was officially sanctioned at the Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 22 November.

Sergeant Jamie Bray said: “We know these stores had a large impact on the community and it is brilliant that the closure order has been put through.

“The team have worked extremely hard to put this before the court. I hope this will benefit the community.”

Councillor Duncan Crow, West Sussex County Council, said: “Trading Standards have been working very closely with Sussex Police regarding the ongoing issues at this premises.

“This a positive outcome and a good example of working with partners to crack down on illegal activity in Worthing to keep residents safe.”
