Ex-Met PC Cliff Mitchell Faces Six New Rape Charges
Cliff Mitchell, 23, a former Metropolitan Police officer, is in the dock over six fresh rape allegations. The ex-PC, who served in the West Area Basic Command Unit, was charged on Wednesday, 6 December with three counts of raping a girl under 13, and three counts involving a victim aged between 13 and 15.
All offences reportedly happened between 2014 and 2017 at a London south-west address, and involve the same victim.
Dismissed from the Force as Court Date Looms
Mitchell is due in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 13 December. Following the latest charges, he was sacked from the Met on Thursday, 7 December.
Met Police Warns Public Amid Ongoing Investigation
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy addressed the public’s concern, acknowledging the distress these charges may cause Londoners, especially when the Met is working hard to restore trust.
“While we understand the worry these allegations may raise, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time to avoid prejudicing ongoing proceedings,” said Cundy.
