Detective Inspector Scott Roxburgh expressed sorrow over Rutherford’s death, saying, “Michele Rutherford lost her life in tragic circumstances while at work caring for others. Nothing can change what happened, but I hope that this conviction can provide some degree of closure.” He acknowledged the deep impact on Michele’s family and colleagues.
