Charles Hanson Faces Serious Allegations

Charles Hanson, the well-known auctioneer and TV antiques expert from hit shows like Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip, has pleaded not guilty to seven charges linked to assault and controlling behaviour towards his wife. The shocking accusations relate to an incident at his Derbyshire home and span nearly eight years.

Court Hearing Sees Hanson Plead Not Guilty

At Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on January 10, 2024, Hanson, 45, appeared calm and composed. He confirmed his personal details and entered not guilty pleas to all charges without offering further comment. The offences include assault causing actual bodily harm between May 13-17, 2020, and coercive control from May 2015 to June 2023.

Case Moved to Crown Court

District Judge Andrew Meachin called the case “wholly unsuitable” for magistrates’ court and transferred it to Derby Crown Court. Hanson was bailed until his next appearance on February 7, 2024. Bail conditions ban him from contacting or visiting his wife Rebecca, except once to collect belongings from their Quarndon family home.
