In a shocking crime spree that spanned 12 hours, a man has been convicted of eight offences, leaving a trail of chaos and fear in his wake. The incidents, which occurred on January 3, 2024, in West Sussex, led to his arrest and subsequent guilty pleas.
The first report of this harrowing spree came in at approximately 4:30 pm, as officers responded to a disturbance at Pengelly Gardens in Littlehampton. A man, later identified as Zac Brazil, 26, with no fixed address, had forcibly entered a property brandishing a knife and menacing the residents. The terror he inflicted upon them set the tone for the nightmarish hours that followed.
Later, around 8:00 pm, Brazil targeted another property, this time in Ravenscroft, Storrington. Inside, he threatened a woman with a knife, resulting in minor injuries. In a display of wanton destruction, he further damaged the victim’s glasses by ruthlessly stomping on them.
Swift police action led to the apprehension and arrest of Zac Brazil. Upon searching him, officers discovered he had cannabis, compounding his legal woes.
However, the crime spree did not begin on that fateful January day. On the preceding day, Brazil had been caught driving while disqualified and without insurance, adding to his list of infractions.
Zac Brazil subsequently faced a multitude of charges, including criminal damage, common assault, affray, possession of a knife, possession of a Class B drug, failure to cooperate with a preliminary test, driving without insurance, and disqualified driving.
Appearing before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 5, 2024, Brazil entered guilty pleas for all the charges levied against him. As the legal process moves forward, he is scheduled to face sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on February 2, 2024.
