Blatchington Mill School Fire: Fast Response by East Sussex Fire Service

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service: At 5.42 pm on January 17, 2023, a response was initiated to smoke sightings at Blatchington Mill School in Hove. By 6 pm, the scene was attended by four fire engines and officers. All individuals have been safely accounted for, and the public is advised to steer clear of the area.

Update as of 6.30 pm: Efforts to extinguish a ground-floor fire are ongoing. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, are utilizing hose reel jets.

Given the substantial smoke production, residents are advised to keep doors and windows shut and continue to avoid the vicinity.

There have been no reported injuries. Police presence is also confirmed at the location.
