M20 Shut After Horror Multi-Car Crash in Kent
The M20 coastbound is completely closed between junctions 4 and 5 in Kent following a serious multi-vehicle collision. Kent Police are leading the response to the chaos on this busy stretch of motorway.
Multi-Car Smash Brings M20 to a Standstill
The smash happened between J4 West Malling and J5 maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone West, with emergency crews tackling the scene since around 10:50pm. Firefighters had to cut the roofs off two cars to free trapped passengers.
Casualties and Traffic Chaos
- One person suffered head injuries
- Another hurt with leg injuries
Both have been rushed to hospital amid mounting traffic delays.
Nightmare Diversions for Drivers
Drivers must follow the diversion from J4, following signs marked with a hollow black circle. The route sends traffic along the A228 north to J2, then onto the M2 coastbound to J5. From there, vehicles rejoin the A249 southbound at J1, returning to the M20 at J7.
Warning: Roadworks between J6 and J7 mean drivers trying to join the M20 coastbound at J5 face further closures. Expect serious delays.
