Emergency services are currently on the scene of a “serious” crash on the M26 motorway this morning, causing significant disruptions to traffic.

The incident occurred on the M26 London-bound just after 7 am today (February 14) and involved a collision between a van and a lorry. Kent Police, along with three fire engines from Kent Fire and Rescue and South East Coast Ambulance Service, are currently at the scene.

Reports suggest that the road remains closed, and the incident is ongoing. An unconfirmed report from a nearby driver indicates that approximately 25 emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire trucks, highway maintenance vehicles, and transporter trucks, are present at the scene.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed their response, stating, “Kent Fire and Rescue Service is responding to a crash on the M26, near Dunton Green, involving a van and a lorry. Three fire engines are at the scene, with Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service.

The incident has caused significant traffic delays in the area, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes and expect delays.

Kent Police have also issued a statement, saying, “Kent Police is currently at the scene of a serious collision on the M26 London-bound. Officers were called at 7.07 am to reports of a collision involving a van and a lorry. Kent Fire and Rescue Service and SECAMB are also in attendance. The road is currently closed.”
