Trouble house in Strood shut down after endless chaos

A property in Strood at the centre of violence, suspected drug use, and antisocial behaviour has been slapped with a closure order. Kent Police won the order at Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 16, 2024, following nonstop complaints from locals near Bligh Way.

Three-month lockout for violent hotspot

The closure order bans anyone unauthorised from entering the property for three months. Trespassers face hefty fines or jail time. Police teamed up with the housing association that owns the building to clear out and secure the premises. A bold warning sign now warns off any would-be intruders.

Inspector slams years of misery for neighbours

Inspector Mick Hayes, from the Medway Community Safety Unit, spoke out about the ongoing nightmare residents endured due to the property’s disruptions. “Despite repeated warnings, the occupant failed to improve their behaviour,” he said, prompting police to act firmly.

Police and council vow zero tolerance

The order is made under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. MHS Homes will take possession of the building. Inspector Hayes stressed the police and Medway Council’s united front against disorderly homes wrecking local communities.

“Our officers, along with Medway Council, are committed to tackling disruptive behaviour blighting residents’ lives. Those living chaotic, often criminal lifestyles that harm their neighbourhoods can expect swift, firm action from Kent Police,” Hayes concluded.

This closure order aims to restore peace to the area, showing the force of police and community partners working together to protect residents and keep public safety front and centre.
