West Midlands Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver after a terrifying smash in Small Heath left a 30-year-old woman in critical condition and her one-year-old son injured. The crash happened just before midnight on Friday at the junction of Cattel Road and Arsenal Street.

The injured woman was a passenger in a blue Toyota Yaris when it collided with a blue Audi S3. Shockingly, the Audi driver sped off, leaving victims and witnesses stunned. Emergency services rushed the seriously hurt woman to the hospital where she remains in intensive care.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, leading the investigation, stressed the urgency. “This happened on a busy road. We know there were pedestrians and other vehicles around who haven’t yet spoken to us,” he said. “If you saw the blue Audi or the collision, please get in touch. Your information is crucial.”
