As London’s transportation landscape evolves, Transport for London (TfL) has announced several changes to bus schedules set to take effect from the first weekend in April. These adjustments aim to optimize service, align with the Mayor’s Transport Strategy, and enhance the overall commuting experience for passengers.
TfL buses play a crucial role in the city’s transportation network, with a fleet of approximately 9,300 buses traversing 675 different routes. The latest timetable modifications are designed to match demand, ensure cost-effectiveness, and facilitate TfL’s investments across the city, including in outer London areas.
Effective from Saturday, April 6, the following route changes will be implemented:
- Route 273: This route will undergo rerouting in both directions via Winn Road and Exford Road to Burnt Ash Hill. Notably, Jevington Way and Senlac Road will no longer be served due to ongoing issues with parked vehicles affecting bus operations.
- Route S3: Minor timetable adjustments will be made to this route on all days of the week.
Passengers are advised to check TfL’s journey planner tool for the updated timetable information for the aforementioned routes.
Additionally, several long-term diversions and closures will impact various routes across the city:
- Kingston Cromwell Road bus station: Closed until Summer 2024.
- Envoy Avenue (Hatton Cross area): Closed westbound until the end of May for roadworks.
- Ship Hill: Closed between Maesmaur Road & Borough Road for Thames Water works.
- Route 464: Operating only between New Addington and Biggin Hill, Stock Hill until at least April 29.
- Route 394: Diverting towards Homerton Hospital due to the closure of Wimbourne Street until Summer 2024.
- Beech Street (Barbican area): Closed westbound until November due to building works.
- Various other routes affected by closures and diversions including 57, 65, 71, 81, 85, 90, 110, 111, 131, 153, 213, 216, 222, 281, 285, 292, 350, 360, 371, 406, 411, 418, 423, 452, 465, 481, 671, 698, C1, E2, K1, K2, K3, K4, K5, N21, N65, N87, N137, R68, R70, U1, U3, and U5.
These changes aim to enhance the efficiency and reliability of London’s bus network, ensuring that commuters can continue to rely on public transport as a convenient and sustainable mode of travel throughout the city.
