Teen Jailed After Acid Threat Robbery on Brentwood High Street
London Youth Locked Up for Fast-Food Acid Robbery
A 17-year-old from London has been slapped with a six-month detention and training order after robbing a 15-year-old boy at knifepoint with an acid threat in a Brentwood fast-food shop.
The teen faced Southend Youth Court on April 16 and was also ordered to shell out £500 in compensation to his terrified victim.
Victim Terrified After Acid Bottle Threat
Essex Police revealed the chilling February incident, where two thugs approached the teenager inside the eatery. One showed a bottle filled with acid to prove the threat’s seriousness before demanding the boy’s coat.
“I struggled to sleep every night because the incident kept replaying in my head vividly,” the victim told the court. “I felt as though I was blaming myself and felt guilty for what had happened to me.”
Guilty Despite Denial
The convicted youth, whose identity is shielded due to his age, was arrested on March 8 this year. He denied the robbery charge but was found guilty after a court battle.
Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery
Detective Constable Joshua Yelland warned of the fear such attacks sow in the community. He lauded the boy for his courage in sticking with the investigation and court ordeal.
“Support was in place for him from the start, and I praise his patience and maturity throughout,” said Yelland.
