Man Busted for Snatching £1,700 Worth of Valuables in Tunbridge Wells

Valuables Spill from Moving Car on London Road

A bag packed with passports, iPads, a GPS watch, car keys, and other valuables worth around £1,700 reportedly fell from a moving vehicle on London Road, Tunbridge Wells, at 8:45 a.m. on February 18, 2024. The owner’s family instantly tried to retrieve it after stopping the car – but the bag vanished before they could get it back.

Suspect Joshua Perks Snatched the Missing Bag

Following a swift investigation by the West Division Victim-Based Crime Team, 35-year-old Joshua Perks of Roundhill Road, Tunbridge Wells, was arrested and charged with theft by finding. Police say he allegedly took the bag and its contents after it was lost from the vehicle.

Bail Granted Ahead of Court Date

Perks has been bailed and will face Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 1. Investigators praised the police for their quick work in cracking the case and holding the suspect to account.
