Walker Rescued After Cliff Ordeal in Hastings Park
A major rescue mission kicked off early Thursday morning in Hastings Country Park after a walker went missing late Wednesday afternoon. Hastings Coastguard, Sussex Police, and multiple emergency teams sprang into action to track down the lost hiker.
Massive Search Effort Launched
The search involved the Hastings Coastguard team, Rye Bay CRT, HM Coastguard Romney Marsh, and support from Sussex Police’s helicopter, search dogs, and drone units. Southeast Coast Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) joined the effort, alongside lifeboats from Eastbourne RNLI and Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat scouring the shoreline.
Walker Found Trapped on Steep Cliff
Thanks to the Coastguard’s local know-how, the search area was quickly narrowed down. The police helicopter helped spot the walker stranded in dense vegetation halfway up a perilous cliff — an area tough to reach on foot.
Heroic Airlift Rescue Saves the Day
The Coastguard Rescue Helicopter was called in for a daring winch rescue. The stranded walker was safely airlifted and immediately assessed by the onboard paramedic. Upon landing, Coastguard officers handed the casualty over to ambulance crews for urgent medical care.
