A man has been charged following a report of an attempted robbery in Canterbury

Kent Police was contacted on Thursday 25 April 2024 to report that a man had approached a woman in the High Street the previous night and had demanded she hand over items to him. An arrest was made later that day.

On Friday 26 April, officers charged Edvaldo Vidal, of Hovenden Close, Canterbury, with attempted robbery and possession of a class A drug.

Following an initial hearing at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court, Mr Vidal, 32, was remanded to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on 27 May 2024.

Officers continue to appeal to anyone who may have information relevant to the investigation to come forward.
