Massive Fire Erupts After Chemical Factory Explosion in Wales; One Injured

A significant blaze engulfed a chemical factory in Mold, Flintshire, Wales, following an explosion earlier today, leaving one person injured. Emergency crews, including firefighters from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, rushed to the scene at Synthite factory on Denbigh Road around 2:06 pm.

In response to the unfolding crisis, authorities swiftly evacuated approximately 20 workers and contractors from the vicinity. The injured individual has been transported to the hospital for treatment.

Local residents were advised to shut their windows and doors as a precautionary measure due to the thick smoke billowing from the site. Mold town councillor, Dr. Megan Lloyd Hughes, expressed gratitude towards the swift response of emergency services, acknowledging their efforts in stabilizing the critical situation.

Earlier reports indicated multiple explosions preceding the inferno, prompting North Wales Police to close the A541 main road from the junction with Dreflan to the junction with Black Brook Road Rhyd y Goleu.

As the incident unfolds, authorities are working diligently to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding community. Further updates on the situation are expected as investigations into the cause of the explosion continue.
