Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team have initiated a murder investigation following the tragic death of an elderly woman in Bangor. The incident occurred in the Hawthorne Court area of the city on Sunday, June 2nd.
Detective Chief Inspector McGuinness provided details about the case: “Police received a report of the woman’s death at a residence shortly after 17:30. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of the woman in the living room area of the property.”
Regrettably, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are currently in the early stages of their inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her demise.
An 85-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. As the investigation continues, he remains detained.
Detective Chief Inspector McGuinness emphasised that they are not actively seeking any other individuals in connection with the case at this time.
