Victoria Thomas Bowen, a 25-year-old woman, has been charged with assault by beating and criminal damage after a milkshake was thrown at Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK. The incident occurred during a campaign event in Clacton-on-Sea on Tuesday.
Farage, who recently announced his return to frontline politics, was targeted with the milkshake while engaging with supporters. The Reform UK leader is currently vying to become a Member of Parliament in Clacton.
In addition to Bowen’s charges, a 44-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker during the same incident has been released and will face no further action.
The case will be heard at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on 2 July, where Bowen will have the opportunity to present her defence. The incident has sparked discussions about political tensions and the use of milkshakes as a form of protest.
