Newly released CCTV footage has provided a breakthrough in the search for British TV doctor Michael Mosley, who disappeared while vacationing on the picturesque Greek island of Symi. The images show Dr. Mosley safely navigating a rocky coastal path, contradicting initial fears that he may have fallen.

The footage, captured by a restaurant in Pedi, reveals Dr. Mosley crossing the treacherous path from St. Nikolas beach to Pedi. Rescuers had been concerned about his whereabouts after he left his wife at the beach. However, the images confirm that he reached the village safely.

Divers are now scouring the waters around Symi as part of an ongoing search-and-rescue operation. Authorities have resumed their efforts, deploying drones and sniffer dogs to aid in the search.

Dr. Mosley, renowned for popularising the 5:2 diet and making appearances on shows like The One Show and This Morning, vanished after setting off on a walk to the island’s center from Saint Nikolas Beach. The local coastguard has mobilized all available patrol boats, including private and commercial vessels, to comb the area.

In a statement, Symi’s mayor, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, expressed confidence that Dr. Mosley would be found. “It is a very small, controlled area, full of people,” he said. “If something happened to him there, we would have found him by now.”

The search continues, with temperatures soaring to 36°C (97°F) on the island. Authorities remain hopeful that Dr. Mosley will be located soon, bringing relief to his worried family and friends.
