Man Convicted in Fraserburgh Fire Incident

Michal Morawski, a 32-year-old man, has been convicted in connection with a fire that occurred in Fraserburgh. The incident took place on Thursday, 27 June 2023, at approximately 3.20am. Morawski deliberately set fire to a property located on Glover Close, where a 29-year-old woman was present.

Man Convicted in Fraserburgh Fire Incident

Morawski pleaded guilty to charges of wilful fire-raising and endangering life at the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday, 13 June 2024. His actions had the potential to cause significant harm, and the victim’s life was at risk during the incident.

Detective Sergeant Richard Cooper of Fraserburgh CID expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “This was a hugely distressing ordeal for Morawski’s victim, who could have lost her life as a result of this incident.” Cooper emphasised the commitment of law enforcement to bring perpetrators of violent crimes to justice and provide necessary support to victims.

Michal Morawski is scheduled to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 7 August.
