Tottenham Gunman Caged for Life After Christmas Day Shooting
Charles Ezbon, 33, from Park Lane, Tottenham, has been handed a life sentence with a minimum of nine years behind bars. The Wood Green Crown Court sentenced him on Friday, 14 June, after he pleaded guilty to possession of a loaded firearm and grievous bodily harm in March.
Brutal Shooting Captured on CCTV
In the early hours of Sunday, 24 December 2023, police rushed to North Middlesex Hospital after a 26-year-old man was admitted with a gunshot wound to the leg. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Officers discovered the victim had been shot following an altercation outside a supermarket on Cedar Road, N17, at around 5am. CCTV footage captured Charles Ezbon firing the gun, clearly identifying him at the scene.
Manhunt Ends with Arrest in Streatham
A swift manhunt was launched, ending on 8 January when Ezbon was caught trying to flee a friend’s home in Stanford Way, Streatham SW16. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Detective Warns of Gang Links
Detective Constable Rhiain John, lead investigator, said: “Charles is a dangerous offender with links to gangs, which is believed to be the motivation behind this incident. I’m pleased to see that the sentence given today means he will spend a significant amount of time behind bars.”
Despite the victim being unwilling to support police, forensic evidence and CCTV left Ezbon with no way out but to plead guilty.
