Man Jailed for Brutal Haywards Heath Assault

A violent attack in Haywards Heath has landed Bradley Garrett behind bars for 18 months.

Unprovoked Wine Bottle Attack

Officers rushed to a Burchetts Close address around 10:30 pm on 8 October 2023 after a disturbance was reported. Garrett, 22, stormed into the property without permission, armed with a wine bottle.

He smashed the bottle over the occupant’s face, sparking a brief but vicious fight. The victim suffered serious facial injuries as a result.

Swift Arrest and Guilty Plea

Garrett, who has no fixed address, was arrested on 24 October 2023. He was charged with Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm—the most serious form of assault.

Appearing at Lewes Crown Court on 17 June, Garrett pleaded guilty and was promptly sentenced to 18 months in prison.

This harsh sentence sends a clear message: violent attacks won’t be tolerated in the community.
