Weymouth Hit-and-Run: Man Arrested for Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a brutal hit-and-run in Weymouth.
Crash Details: Pedestrians Hit on Abbotsbury Road
Dorset Police were called at 8:26 PM on Tuesday, July 16, following a collision involving a black Volkswagen Golf and two pedestrians near the junction of Abbotsbury Road and Cromwell Road.
The speeding driver fled the scene without stopping. One pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. His companion, a man in his 30s, escaped with minor injuries.
Two Men Arrested in Connection to Weymouth Collision
Initial enquiries led to the arrest of a 24-year-old Weymouth man. He faces multiple charges, including causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, and failing to stop or report the accident. He appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on July 19 and is due in Bournemouth Crown Court on August 22.
Further probes resulted in the arrest of a 59-year-old man from Weymouth on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Dorset Police are urgently calling for anyone with information or who witnessed the hit-and-run to come forward and assist with the investigation.
