Man Seriously Injured After Falling at Busy Canary Wharf Tube

A man suffered serious injuries after plummeting from a height at Canary Wharf Underground station today, disrupting travel at one of London’s busiest transport hubs.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

The fall happened around 12:50 PM on August 6, sparking a swift response from emergency crews. Ambulances, paramedics in fast response cars, incident officers, and the hazardous area response team (HART) all rushed to assist.

The injured man was treated on the spot before being rushed to a major trauma centre for urgent care.

Station Shutdown Causes Chaos

British Transport Police (BTP) arrived at the scene just after 1 PM and temporarily shut down Canary Wharf station. Transport for London (TfL) also closed the Jubilee line, triggering widespread travel chaos for commuters across the network.

Eyewitnesses reported officers shouting for people to “get out as fast as you can,” sparking panic and a hurried evacuation. Many passengers fled towards the exits amid tense scenes. The station later reopened once it was safe.

Official Statements

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:“We were called at 12:50 PM to reports of a person fallen from height at Canary Wharf Underground Station. We sent multiple resources, including ambulance crews and the hazardous area response team. The man was treated at the scene and then taken to a major trauma centre.”

British Transport Police added:“Officers attended at 1:07 PM following reports of a medical incident. Paramedics treated the man, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
