Man Arrested After Mystery Substance Thrown in Welling
A man has been arrested after hurling an unknown substance at two people in Welling last Tuesday evening. The shocking attack happened just before 7pm on Bellegrove Road, following a reported attempted car theft.
Victims Taken to Hospital, Substance Not Acid
The Metropolitan Police revealed the man threw the substance at a man and a woman as he fled the scene. Both victims were rushed to hospital for treatment, but authorities say the substance is not believed to be acid—tests are still ongoing.

London Fire Brigade and Ambulance crews arrived promptly as a precaution. The exact nature of the victims’ injuries has not been disclosed.
Suspect Held on Suspicion of GBH and Burglary
Following a police search, a man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and burglary. The investigation remains ongoing.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “At around 18:43hrs, officers were called to Bellegrove Road, Welling, after reports of a man attempting to steal a car. As he fled, he threw a substance at a man and a woman. LAS and LFB attended as a precaution. The man and woman were taken to hospital. While testing continues, it is not believed to be acid. Officers searched the area and arrested a man on suspicion of GBH and burglary. Enquiries are ongoing.”
