Car Fire on M20 Near Ashford Extinguished by Fire Crews

A car fire on the M20 early Sunday morning prompted a swift response from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The incident occurred on September 1, 2024, between Junctions 10 iand 11 on the coastbound side of the motorway near Ashford.

At approximately 6:10 AM, emergency services were alerted to the vehicle fire. Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus for protection, used high-pressure hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control. The flames were successfully extinguished by 6:33 AM.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, with authorities working to determine what led to the vehicle igniting.

Motorists in the area experienced some delays as fire crews worked to manage the situation. The section of the M20 where the incident occurred has since been cleared, and traffic flow is returning to normal.
