Met Police Nab £400k Worth of Cocaine in Roehampton Sting
Armed with sharp instincts, officers from the Met’s Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) have netted a massive haul of suspected drugs worth around £400,000 after stopping a car in Roehampton.
Two Men Arrested with Cocaine Hidden in Socks and Backpacks
At about 4:20pm on Tuesday, 18 August, South West VSU cops pulled over a vehicle on Hollybourne Avenue. Inside were two men – one in his 60s and the other in his 40s. A search revealed one bloke had a bag of cocaine tucked inside his sock. A car search turned up a backpack with two blocks of what’s suspected to be cocaine, weighing roughly 0.25kg.
The pair were promptly arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Follow-Up Raids Uncover More Drugs and £22,000 Cash
Searches of a nearby property uncovered two large compressed blocks of white powder – likely cocaine – weighing about 1.75kg. Officers also found a two-litre tub of what is believed to be loose cannabis, plus roughly £22,000 in cash.
A second address yielded three small bags of suspected cocaine. The South West taskforce estimates the total suspected cocaine haul at around two kilos, valued at £400,000 on the streets. The cannabis found is worth an estimated £5,000.
Met Cracks Down on Drug Dealers, Calls for Public Help
“We know that drugs are inextricably linked to much of London’s violence,” warned A/Detective Inspector Treasa O’Donoghue. “We will keep targeting dealers who threaten our communities.”
“Stop and search, guided by intelligence, remains a key safeguard to keep Londoners safe. We need the public’s help — anyone with information should come forward, either directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers.”
Both men remain in custody as enquiries continue. Anyone with info can call police on 101.
