Thunderstorm Alert: Torrential Rain to Slam Southern England and Wales
Heavy Downpours Set to Batter Wide Areas
Brace yourselves! A fierce band of “heavy and thundery rain” is rolling in from the south coast this Saturday evening. The Met Office has issued a warning from 9pm Saturday through to 6pm Sunday. The storm will sweep northwards, soaking southern and central England, Wales, and even reaching as far as sheffield/" title="Sheffield" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Sheffield, Lincolnshire, and Tenby.
Up to 100mm of Rain Could Trigger Flood Havoc
Rainfall totals could hit a staggering 100mm in some spots. This raises real fears of localised flooding, power outages, and major travel chaos across the affected areas. While some places might see less than 10mm, others could face 40-60mm or more. The Met Office confirms there’s still uncertainty about exact amounts, so stay alert.
Already Wet – More Rain to Pile On
Parts of southern England and Wales already took a battering with heavy rain on Thursday and Friday. The Met Office warns that this weekend’s downpours could worsen conditions, especially in southern regions where the ground is already saturated.
North England and Scotland Escape the Worst… for Now
Up north, things will be brighter with dry spells and sunshine. However, expect cloudier, cooler weather to settle in as this unsettled pattern drags into next week.
