The A249 Sheppey Crossing is currently closed northbound between the B2005 and A2500 following a road traffic collision that occurred around 00:30 this morning.
Emergency services, including Kent Police, the South East Coast Ambulance Service, and National Highways Traffic Officers, responded immediately to the scene. Due to the severity of the incident, there is currently no estimated time for the reopening of the road.
Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and are being urged to follow a diversion route marked by Hollow Diamond symbols. The diversion will guide drivers off the A249 at the Ridham Dock/B2005 Junction and along Sheppey Way towards Sheerness, before rejoining the A249 via the A2500.
If this closure impacts your journey, it is advised to allow extra travel time, plan ahead, or consider re-routing or delaying your journey altogether. Updates will be available via National Highways‘ website, travel apps, and their 24/7 contact centre at 0300 123 5000. Further information can also be found on their regional X feed.
