Police Appeal for Dashcam Footage and Witnesses Following Vehicle Thefts in Rural Winchester

Police are appealing for witnesses and motorists with dashcam footage after a series of thefts from vehicles occurred in rural areas surrounding Winchester over the weekend of 20-21 September.

A total of 12 thefts were reported to Hampshire Constabulary, with five of the incidents occurring at the Old Winchester Hill nature reserve near West Meon on Saturday, 21 September, between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Multiple vehicles were damaged, and items such as a child’s buggy and gym clothes were stolen.

The same day, another theft took place from a vehicle parked on Beacon Hill Road in nearby Exton. A purse containing bank cards and cash was taken.

Additionally, four vehicles were targeted in the Avington Park and Easton areas on the afternoon of Saturday, 21 September. In one case, a car window was smashed, and a bag containing a passport, phone, and bank cards was stolen.

Other reports included number plates being stolen from a vehicle parked in Abbottstone Wood near Alresford between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, 20 September, and from a van parked in Upper Church Road, Shedfield, sometime between Friday, 20 September, and Sunday, 22 September at 9:30 a.m.

Police are investigating whether these incidents are connected and are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage from the relevant areas to come forward.
