Vehicle thieves on the loose in Winchester countryside! Police are hunting crooks after a spate of 12 thefts targeting cars and vans over the weekend of 20-21 September. Rural spots around Winchester, including Old Winchester Hill, Exton, and Avington Park, were hit hard.
Thieves Smash Windows and Steal Gear
Five robberies struck Old Winchester Hill nature reserve near West Meon on Saturday between 2pm and 7pm. Vehicles were smashed, with items like a child’s buggy and gym clothes swiped.
Not far away, a purse stuffed with cash and bank cards was stolen from a car parked on Beacon Hill Road, Exton. Meanwhile, four cars in Avington Park and Easton suffered thefts, with one smashed window leading to the loss of a bag containing a passport, phone, and cards.
Number Plates Nabbed, Police On Alert
Number plates weren’t safe either. One set was nicked from a vehicle in Abbottstone Wood near Alresford on Friday afternoon. Another vanished from a van parked in Upper Church Road, Shedfield, sometime between Friday and Sunday morning.
Police Urge Witnesses and Dashcam Owners to Come Forward
