Witness Appeal Following Death of Man on M2 at Rochester

Police are appealing for witnesses following the tragic death of a man on the M2 near Rochester. The incident occurred on the coastbound carriageway between Junctions 1 and 2 on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Kent Police received a call at 6:40 p.m. reporting that a person had been involved in a collision with a car. Emergency services attended the scene, and a man in his 30s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report is being prepared for the coroner. The man’s next of kin have been informed.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident, reopening at 11:50 p.m.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Webb stated, “While we are treating the death as non-suspicious, officers are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage along the M2 or the surrounding roads at the time to contact us so that we can understand the full circumstances.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area is urged to contact Kent Police on 01634 792209, quoting reference 29-996.

The police are hoping to gather further information to understand the circumstances leading to the man’s death, and they appreciate the assistance of anyone who may have relevant information.
