Police Appeal After ‘Stolen’ Car Crash in West Bromwich Leaves Woman Seriously Injured

West Midlands Police are appealing for information following a serious collision in West Bromwich last night that left a woman with severe injuries.

The incident occurred at around 11:15pm on Hampshire Road when a Volkswagen Golf, reported stolen, crashed into a brick wall. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot after failing to stop for officers prior to the crash.

Two passengers, a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. A third passenger, a 19-year-old woman, suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital for further treatment.

West Midlands Police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is standard procedure in incidents involving police pursuits.
