In the early hours of today, a major fire broke out at an industrial estate on Beddington Lane, Beddington, Croydon. The London Fire Brigade dispatched ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters to tackle the blaze, which severely damaged an industrial unit and destroyed around 10 vehicles stored inside.
An electric vehicle was among those destroyed, and firefighters took extra precautions to cool the lithium battery to prevent further hazards. Another single-storey industrial unit on the site also suffered partial damage due to the fire.

The first emergency call was made at 12.51am and London Fire Brigade’s Control Officers received a total of eight 999 calls reporting the incident. Crews from Norbury, Addington, Wimbledon, Beckenham, and surrounding stations responded promptly to bring the situation under control.

The fire was declared under control by 03:16, and thankfully, there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area while the investigation and cleanup operations are ongoing.
