Massive Blaze Rips Through Beddington Industrial Estate in Croydon
Ten Fire Engines Battle Early Morning Inferno
A huge fire tore through an industrial estate on Beddington Lane, Croydon, in the early hours today. The London Fire Brigade scrambled ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters to tackle the fierce blaze. The fire badly damaged one industrial unit and completely destroyed about 10 vehicles stored inside.
Electric Vehicle Adds Danger: Firefighters Take No Chances
Among the wreckage was an electric vehicle. Fire crews took extra care to cool the lithium battery to avoid any further hazards. Nearby, a second single-storey industrial unit suffered partial damage after catching fire.
Multiple Fire Stations Join Rapid Response
The first 999 call came in at 12:51am. London Fire Brigade control officers received eight calls reporting the blaze. Firefighters from Norbury, Addington, Wimbledon, Beckenham, and surrounding stations rushed to the scene, managing to get the fire under control by 3:16am.
No Injuries but Investigation Underway
Thankfully, no one was hurt. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. The public is urged to stay clear of the area while cleanup and emergency operations continue.
